Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
Summary
RSS Feed Reader is built with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or process any personal data. Your feed subscriptions, reading history, and preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) and never transmitted to our servers.
Data Storage
Local Storage Only
All user data is stored locally on your device using your browser's IndexedDB database. This includes:
- Your RSS feed subscriptions
- Cached article content
- Read/unread status of articles
- Starred and bookmarked articles
- Category organization
- Theme preferences
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Data Persistence
Your data persists in your browser until you:
- Clear your browser's site data for rss-feed-reader.com
- Use your browser's "Clear browsing data" feature
- Uninstall your browser
We recommend using the OPML export feature to backup your feed subscriptions regularly.
Server Interactions
Feed Proxy
Due to browser security restrictions (CORS), we use a minimal serverless proxy to fetch RSS feed content. When you add or refresh a feed:
- Your browser sends a request to our proxy with the feed URL
- The proxy fetches the feed content and returns it to your browser
- No logging occurs - we do not record which feeds you request
- Feed content is not stored on our servers
Static Hosting
The RSS Feed Reader web application is hosted on Vercel. Standard server logs (IP addresses, access times) may be collected by the hosting provider as part of normal web server operations. These logs are used only for security and debugging purposes and are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Cookies and Tracking
RSS Feed Reader does not use:
- Cookies (except essential browser storage)
- Analytics or tracking scripts
- Third-party advertising
- Fingerprinting techniques
- Social media tracking pixels
We do not track your reading habits, article clicks, or any other user behavior.
Third-Party Services
RSS Feed Reader loads the following external resources:
- Dexie.js (from unpkg.com) - Database library
- DOMPurify (from unpkg.com) - HTML sanitization
- date-fns (from unpkg.com) - Date formatting
- Google Favicon Service - To display website icons
These services have their own privacy policies. The unpkg CDN is a standard npm package delivery network. Google's favicon service receives the domain names of feeds you subscribe to in order to return their icons.
Children's Privacy
RSS Feed Reader does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The service does not require any personal information to use.
Data Export and Deletion
Exporting Your Data
You can export all your feed subscriptions at any time using the "Export OPML" feature in the sidebar. This creates a standard OPML file compatible with any RSS reader.
Deleting Your Data
To delete all RSS Feed Reader data:
- Open your browser's Developer Tools (F12)
- Go to Application → Storage → IndexedDB
- Delete the "RSSReaderDB" database
Alternatively, clear your browser's site data for rss-feed-reader.com through your browser settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of RSS Feed Reader after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
